Managing Travel Fatigue Symptoms
Before the trip, keep your body in shape. Exercise and take a lot of rest as this will enable you to cope better while travelling. You should also seek medical treatment in cases where you have a condition that needs to be monitored such as heart disease. Ask for coping strategies like a change in the medication schedule if you are going on a different time zone.
Avoid alcoholic beverages and caffeine as these are diuretics which cause you to lose more water thus leading to dehydration. Once you’re dehydrated, it can cause you headache and drowsiness. Drinking plenty of water will surely help you prevent these problems. Wear loose and comfortable clothes which will allow you to breathe easily. Finally, establish a sleeping pattern to induce sleep. However, if you still find it difficult, you may resort to using sleeping pills as treatment. But make sure that you’ve consulted your doctor prior to taking any medication. Have a jetlag – free trip!
