Because of their mobility, laptop computers can be great assets when going on either a local or international trip. Personally, I appreciate how I can still connect with my friends and loved ones though I’m out on to visit places and spend vacations because of my Apple MacBook. However, bringing your notebook or netbook with you also is also a liability. When out travelling, your laptop are exposed to threats such as theft , damage, and climate factors, that is why proper care is required to avoid these instances. - Make a back up of your important files. Save them in an external USB or you can burn your files onto a CD/ DVD.
- Check your notebook’s warranty to see what the manufacturer covers when you’re notebook is damaged.
- Always keep your notebook with you at all times. Do not put your laptop along with your other baggage as it always goes with you during your flight as a carry-on baggage.
- Use a well-suited protective notebook case. Opt for the heavily padded to protect your device from bumps since you’re going to be moving a lot.
- Opt for a case that is not obvious for a laptop so you won’t encourage theft.
- Update your security applications and software such as firewall, antivirus, and antispyware since you don’t know how safe the Internet connection is.
- If you are going to fly with a laptop, ensure that you have enough battery power to boot because some security personnel requires your device to be checked.
- Take the peripherals with you including the power cables, external drives, and other cables. Bring an extra battery so you can use your laptop PC at times where you can’t plug in using power cables.
