How to Save Money – for Kids
posted by: Gretchen
Saving money for kids has a lot of advantages. You get to teach them to be wise in spending their money and at the same time you are helping them for their future. If they grow up wise, they will not waste any cent that they will earn.
How do we help kids save money ? Normally, kids are impulsive buyers. They point every thing that interests them at the store. They buy candies and toys.
Saving Tips for Kids
- If your kids go to school, let them bring food for snack and lunch. Give them extra cash if you want in case of emergency. But tell them that they have to leave some for their school needs.
- Let them do some work-household chores. Then reward them with cash.
- Give them a piggy bank. Tell your toddlers that they will get a reward if they can fill it up.
- If your boys and girls are creative, let them do some crafts and sell them. They can earn out of their crafts. It’s like making money out of fun.
- Ask them to cut coupons from magazines that they can use when they shop at the grocery store.
- If they have earned cash enough to open a bank account, then open an account for them secretly.
- Tell your children to surrender their savings to you and assure them that you will keep it.
- Surprise them with their savings account. Ask them if they want to buy some groceries or clothes using the money that they have earned.
- If they want to keep it, then good. Maybe they plan to invest it to something else.
Teaching your kids to be economical is just like teaching them to live and survive. When they will have their own baby, they will also teach the ways to save money.
