How to Cook Meatballs with Sweet and Sour Sauce

Kids are so fond with tasty meals. Rare are those times when you hear and see them eating food that are not fried. They like dishes such as fried chicken, fried hotdogs, just those. They are so picky and sometimes, you won’t be able to think of food that they would surely like. I suggest Meatballs with Sweet and Sour Sauce. Surely, the kids will like and love it. Cooking sometimes is a challenge, take this challenge and create one recipe that will definitely suits the Filipino taste buds ( Panlasang Pinoy).
Here are the basic Ingredients for your meatballs.
1 pound ground pork
1/2 cup bread crumbs
2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
1 pc. egg
1/2 cup minced onion
To come up to a desired Sweet and Sour Sauce, have the following ingredients:
1 tbsp. garlic, minced
1 cup pineapple tidbits
1/3 cup vinegar
1 cup red/ green bell pepper, chopped
1 pc. onion, quartered
1 cup water
3 tbsp. tomato ketchup
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sliced carrots
1 tbsp. corn starch diluted in 3 tbsp.of water
8 tbsp. cooking oil
Here is a list of a very simple cooking procedure on how to cook meatballs and Sweet and Sour Sauce :
For the Meatballs:
1. Combine ground pork, onion, salt, pepper, bread crumbs and egg in a large bowl, Mix them well.
2. Spoon according to your desired of the meatballs. But I suggest that you put 1- 2 tablespoons of mixture and form a ball shaped figure out of the mixture. When you have made all into balls, set aside.
3. Put a frying pan over heat and put cooking oil.
4. When you think the oil is hot enough. Fry the meatballs til the outer part turns brown. Make sure it’s cooked.
5. When the cooking is done, put the meatballs in a plate and set them aside.
For the Sweet and Sour Sauce, here are the procedures:
1. Heat a pot, and put 2 tablespoons cooking oil.
2. When oil is hot, put in the garlic and sauté.
3 . Add the onion, carrot, and bell peppers and cook it for about 2 minutes.
4. Next, put the pineapple tidbits and cook for another minute.
5. Pour in the tomato ketchup, add sugar and vinegar .
6. Stir the mixture and add water. Let it simmer.
7. Put the cornstarch diluted in water and cook until you have reached the desired thickness you want.
8. Remove pan over heat. Get the fried meatballs and scoop sauce over the meatballs.
9. And your meatballs are ready. Serve and share your sweet and sour meatballs.
You can also have your meatballs on top of your kids’ favourite recipe, spaghetti. That would be flavoursome, right? Uhmmm yummy! Next time, make another version, try Italian meatballs, sounds great!
