One of the health problems of women is having irregular periods. This is quite an indication that your cycles have become imbalanced. There are those women who don’t care about it until they get married and begin trying to get pregnant. This is pretty alarming as it can be a sign of an underlying disease like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). That’s why you have to know what causes your irregular period by seeing the doctor.
What are Irregular Periods ?
Irregular periods are also called anovulatory periods. They are simply those that are not regular which means you don’t know when your period is going to appear. You cannot simple track irregular menstruation. The normal cycles vary from 23-35 days. However, irregular menses and perimenopause can be signs that a woman is near to menopause.

- Extremely heavy periods
- Less frequent periods
What are the Symptoms ?
- Large gaps with no periods
- Gaps of no periods then bleeding continuously for a few weeks
- Spotting or bleeding in between periods
- Painful cramping
- Early periods
- Some gaps and then periods coming too frequently followed by gaps again
Herbal Remedies
- Herbal plants are the most popular way to treat irregular periods. Ginger and parsley are effective herbs. Take dried parsley to brew tea and drink 3-4 cups to stimulate menstruation. Ginger is also an excellent herb. Use it with hot water before going to bed. Other herbs include rosemary, sage, and feverfew. These are helpful in getting rid of irregular menstruation.
- Chastetree berry stimulates the function of the pituitary gland that helps balance the hormone output from the ovaries and to stimulate ovulation.
Medical Treatment
- Hormone supplements. These helps those women normalize the menstrual periods.
- Hormonal contraceptives. These pills can only be bought with a prescription.
Lifestyle Changes
- Reduce stress and find time to relax
It is important to monitor the dates of your menstruation as well as the times you have your period in a year. This will somehow help on how to cure your problem. Be watchful!

Just wait for a little while. it will come back. the medicine might just disturbed the pattern of your menstruation cycle. Don’t worry.
hi, im rio mendoza 21 y/o ive been irregular since 2010, ive tried to consult an OB and prescribed me a drug named provera, i take the medicine for 3 months and i thought my menstrual flow would be change and begin regular. but, after i stop taking the drug i never been menstruating. i stop the medicine last august 27 2011 until now, october 27 im still not menstruating. what should i do? before i refer to a doctor.
