How to Stop Nose Bleeding

We all get to experience a time when our nose bleeds. Nosebleeds, medically known as epistaxis, actually happen as a result from injury or disease such as high blood pressure or exposure to cold environment, high altitudes, excessive blowing of the nose, and doing laborious activities. In children and toddlers, this may occur when the blood vessels at the septum are fragile and ruptures easily.
There are instances when it causes prolonged, profuse, dangerous, and crazy nose bleeding. This is a common occurrence in a child than in an adult. Nosebleeds can be bothersome and annoying since you don’t have any clue on when it’s going to happen.

Home Remedies to Stop Nose Bleeding
One of the home remedies that you can use on how to stop bleeding of the nose is the application of aloe vera jelly and virgin olive oil using a cotton ball to the site.
To control the bleeding, do the following steps:
- Keep the patient calm and quiet.
- Put the patient in a sitting position. Ask him to lean forward.
- Put pressure on the bleeding site by pressing the nostrils toward the midline.
- Apply cold compress to the patient’s nose.
- If it still bleeds, insert clean gauze into the affected nostril to block the blood and apply pressure using your thumb and index finger. Make sure that there’s a free end of the pad hanging externally so you can easily remove it later.
Remember not to tilt your head back in cases of nose bleeding contrary to the popular remedy as doing this can cause aspiration and blood flow into the esophagus. If the bleeding does not stop, seek medical attention already as excessive blood loss can be dangerous.
