How to Get Super Glue off Your Skin
posted by: Rio Dianne
Super glue like Krazy or Epoxy may be an ideal stuff in the house as it can repair all sorts of things. However, it may live up to its name to the point that you’ll be devastated because even your fingers or hands as well as any part of the body are bonded because of it. Having to experience this could be very funny but way too scary. So, how to get super glue off your skin, you ask? Read on as we tell you how to get that sticky situation.
How You Can Get Super Glue off Your Skin
- Once you’ve realized that the glue was stuck on any part of your body (e.g. hands, face, fingers, etc), stop what you’re doing immediately. Do not attempt to tear the glue apart as this can rip your skin.
- Soak the skin immediately in a tolerable hot water with soap to soften the bond. You can also try to add vinegar on it. Try to force the glue apart.
- Apply an acetone-based nail polish remover. Acetone has the ability to break the cyanoacrylate which is the main component of most glue like plastic and nail glue. Rub the acetone to the affected site and the glue should wear off.
- Wash your hands again with soap and water to remove the remaining glue on skin.
That is how to get super glue off your skin. Note that this doesn’t apply when the affected areas include the eyes and mouth as this can worsen the situation further. Another friendly reminder though, one should be careful with the use of the acetone as it mars the appearance of glass, clothes, and other fabrics. There you have it. I hope that this has been a lot of help!
