Coughing is a part of the body process to help clean the airways. It is a reflex action of making our lungs sterile. Though coughing is normal, when it has become excessive, then that only means this is one of the symptoms of an underlying condition or disease. Generally, there are two classifications of cough. The first one is dry cough which means it does not produce any mucus in the lungs. The second one is productive cough which is characterized with phlegm or with mucus from the lungs. Also, coughs can be acute or chronic depending on the duration.

- Mix 2 tablespoons of honey with grape juice and be sure to take it three times a day for five days. The grape juice helps on how to get rid of phlegm.
- To dry up phlegm, you can also add a bit of white pepper to 1 teaspoon of honey. This is to be taken two times a day for five days.
- Another good treatment is by filling a cut lemon with black pepper powder and salt. This is noted to reduce the severity of cough as well as drying up mucus.
- A combination of pure honey and grape juice act well and is highly effective to relieve cough.
- Boil eucalyptus and mint leaves together in water. Once it started boiling, inhale its vapor. This is another way on how to treat it naturally.
- Make a mixture out of black pepper, dry ginger, and long pepper. Take the mixture alongside with honey atleast twice daily to provide relief.
These home remedies will surely help you provide fast and short-term relief from cough. However, these may not apply in babies since babies are a little fragile to handle. If your baby has wheezes or whooping cough, it is always better to seek medical advice. Also, if you have a cough which lasts for more that three weeks, then you also have to seek urgent care as this may already be a sign of an upper respiratory tract infection.

Can we use this on 11 month girl. My daughter has bad cough and phlegm. Whenever she coughs she cry a lot. We cam hear the phlegm while she cough and breath.
She cant sleep at all. Just 10 min sleep and wakes up coughing and then cry a lot.
