Tinea cruris or commonly referred to as jock itch is a usual occurrence among men though it can happen in women as well. The condition refers to any itching felt in the groin area. The infection is caused by the ringworm and can start from the feet (tinea pedis) or nails (tinea unguium). All of these including tinea capitis which affects the hair may indicate Tinea corporis which occurs in any part of the body. The condition is noted to be produce extreme itchiness in the groin and is characterized with swollen red rash. Below are some home remedies for tinea cruris which you can do if you are suffering from this contagious infection.
Tinea Cruris Home Remedies
- Always wash your groin on a daily basis and make sure to thoroughly dry it since a moist groin is susceptible for multiplication of the fungi.
- Apply antifungal cream on the affected site atleast two times a day.
- Avoid wearing constricting underwear as it doesn’t permit air circulation which makes it easier for jock itch to occur. Moreover, opt for the cotton underwear because they are more absorbent than the non-cotton ones.
- Application of tea tree oil is one way on how to treat it naturally. Apply it on the affected area for atleast twice daily.
- Oregano oil may also be beneficial as treatment to cure tinea cruris. You can apply this alternately with tea tree oil two times everyday. Ginger may also be added since they have natural anti-fungal properties.
- Ice application can also be done to provide relief from the itch provided that you will dry the site well after applying ice.
