Some people seem to smell worse than others like how men stink more than women. This is probably due to a person’s body odor which depends on a lot of factors including health status, gender, diet, and medications taken by that person. In this post, we’ll mainly focus on some of the health problems and diseases that cause body odor.
Diseases that Cause Body Odor
The following are some conditions which are possible causes.
- Poor hygiene which causes bad underarm smell
- Normal human body odor
- Breath odor
- Normal puberty due to hormonal balances
- Normal aging
- Consumption of certain foods which cause body odor
- Sour/ stale sweat
- Vaginal or Penile discharge
However, if you still have scent that smells foul despite proper hygiene, maybe it’s time to ask your doctor about your symptoms and what might be causing your smelly body. Some of the medical conditions associated with having stinky body smell include:
- Gastrointestinal tract disorders e.g. constipation
- Rare Metabolic disorders like Fish odor syndrome
- Kidney Diseases
- Hepatic Diseases
- Urinary Tract Infections which also bring strong urine odor
- Diabetes
- Diabetic Ketoacidosis
- Athlete’s Foot which causes foot odor
- Typhoid Fever
- Scurvy
Once you notice that your body is noticeably unusual from the normal type of body odor, you need seek medical advice as soon as possible. Talk about your doctor’s diagnosis and what treatment or cure you should undertake as these illnesses may be the culprit why you have that stinky smell.
