How to Make a Homemade Whiskey
Ingredients:
- 7 pounds of rye
- 2 pounds of barley
- 6 gallons of water
- 1 pound of malt
- 3 grams of yeast
- 1 gram of ammonium fluoride
How to Make It:
- Heat the water until it reaches a temperature of 70 degrees. Mix in malt and rye once it reaches the desired temperature.
- Stir the mixture slowly and heat it to 160 degrees and stir constantly for two-three hours so that it will be converted from starch into sugar and dextrin for the fermentation process.
- Maintain the temperature at 160 degrees and stir constantly for two-three hours so that it will be converted from starch into sugar and dextrin for the fermentation process.
- Filter off the mixture and put it into the fermentation device.
- Let it cool to 70-80 degree and add the yeast. Pitch with ammonium fluoride to prevent contamination.
- Stir the liquid for once minute and cover and seal with an airlock.
- Allow it to ferment for 5 – 7 days.
- Once it has fermented, filter using a pillowcase to remove all solid particles.
- Store the product in a sealed container for aging until you are ready to drink you homemade rye whiskey.
