How to Cook Buttered Shrimp - recipe and ingredientsHow do you like to cook your seafood? Is it baked, grilled or buttered? As for me, I really don’t care how it is being prepared and cooked because I simply love to eat seafood so much. I’m really adventurous when it comes to food, so anything edible, I eat it. I’m always willing to give it a try to taste any food that is new to me especially if it is seafood.

Anyway, in this article I will share one of my favorite recipes of seafood. You heard this recipe a million time and maybe tasted in different restaurants and in different versions, but I wanted to share my own version of this food. What I am talking about is buttered shrimp. Let me share how to cook buttered shrimp in a stress free manner and in a pretty quick way.

Buttered Shrimp Ingredients:

  • 1 kilo of medium sized shrimps
  • ¼ cup of ginger, sliced into strips
  • 5 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 large onion, minced
  • 8 oz of soda ( sprite or 7-up)
  • 75-100 grams of soft butter
  • 1 teaspoon of cornstarch ( dissolve with 1 teaspoon of water)
  • ¼ cup of water
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Cooking Procedure:

  • Heat a non stick pan, put half of the butter into it and melt. Sauté garlic, onion and ginger until slightly brown.
  • Then add the rest of the butter into it, put the shrimp. Season it with salt and pepper. Stir until the shrimp changed its color into orange.
  • Next, pour water and soda. Boil for few minutes until the shrimp is almost cooked. Add cornstarch mixture and continue to cook and simmer until the sauce becomes thick.
  • Finally, turn off the heat. Transfer the buttered shrimp into a clean serving plate. Serve with steamed rice.

It will not take you sometime to prepare and cook this recipe. Since this is a seafood recipe, make sure the shrimp is really fresh to achieve the desired taste.
