Easy Homemade Lotion Recipe

Are you trying to save money but you cannot give up some of the things that you love? Women are naturally vain. There are many cosmetics that you apply to care for your skin, hair, and body. This makes saving hard for you. To maintain your beauty, you need to spend some amount for cosmetics. However, you don’t always need to be extravagant just to be beautiful. There are inexpensive products for your skin care. Furthermore, you can even use organic or natural ingredients to make some products like hand and body lotion. Yes, it’s true!
DIY Lotion Recipes
Let us learn together some quick lotion recipes which are good for sore and dry skin. They are free from harmful ingredients.
Rosemary Gladstar’s Recipe
- 1/3 cup coconut oil/ cocoa butter
- 1 tsp lanolin
- ¾ cup apricot/ almond oil
- ½ cup oz grated beeswax
Melt the above ingredients in a casserole over low heat. Cool to room temperature and while they are cooling, mix the following ingredients together.
- 1/3 cup aloe vera gel
- 2 drops rose oil
- 2/3 cup rosewater
- Contents of 1 vitamin E capsule
Add the ingredients mentioned above to the first mixture. Whip it well until it resembles buttercream frosting. Store it in a covered jar.
Shea Butter Lotion
- 6 oz Natural Shea butter
- Distilled water
- Iced water
- Vitamin E capsule
- Lemon fragrance oil/ honeysuckle fragrance oil
- 4 oz Almond/ grapeseed oil
- 1 tsp cornstarch
Procedure
- In a pot, pour 2 inches of distilled water and put it on the stove on medium fire. Bring it to simmer. Now put the Shea butter in a stainless bowl and then keep it over the pot. Let it melt.
- Once the Shea butter melts, add almond/grapeseed oil.
- Add the cornstarch to the Shea butter and then pour the contents of the Vitamin E capsule. You can also add lemon fragrance oil.
- Put iced water in a larger bowl. Get the bowl you had earlier and keep it in the larger bowl, on top of iced water.
- Blend the ingredients on medium setting until there’s consistency in the butter oil.
- Once the mixture appears like shipped cream and stiff peaks get formed on the top, stop blending. Store the mixture in a plastic container. Keep it in the fridge for months.
The recipes mentioned above are great for beginners and they can be used by your kids. You can also have recipes with the use of glycerin and goat milk. Good luck!
